Interim IT Director
6 month initial FTC
Our client is a rapid growth, PE backed, FinTech platform who are in the middle of a significant growth phase. We are supporting the search for an Interim IT Director to hold and drive core IT through a period of real change. A recent track record of M&A, alongside impressive organic growth, has fuelled the growth; and more M&A sits in the near-term pipeline.
Running underneath is a large transformation programme that is well into delivery. It is a fast-moving, ambitious environment, and the technology function has evolve alongside at the same rate.
The current IT Director is being seconded internally as the senior leadership layer across core technology reshapes, which is what opens this up. The interim lands roughly midway through the transformation, into a heavy BAU load and a large portfolio of projects, with acquisition integration arriving on top as further deals complete. The job is to keep all of that moving at pace, without the function losing a step while the change plays out.

Reporting to the Group CIO and sitting as a peer to the Head of Software, Product and Data, the role owns core IT end to end. That covers the infrastructure, support, security and applications estate, the technology project portfolio, and a team of five direct reports. This is the engine room of the technology function, with the product and data side running alongside it.
What you'll pick up
- Keep core IT running cleanly and securely through a heavy BAU period
- Lead the infrastructure, support, security and applications estate, and the team, steadily through the leadership change
- Hold the technology project portfolio to plan rather than letting it stall during the transition
- Provide senior technical leadership into the transformation programme through its middle stretch
- Handle the technology integration of newly acquired businesses as deals complete
- Give the Group CIO a dependable core IT lead while the senior structure settles

Candidate profile
- A genuine infrastructure and security background, deep enough to lead from the front rather than manage from a distance
- Prior exposure to PE-backed environments with M&A focus
- A credible leader with deep experience leading and building IT teams
- Comfortable holding a heavy BAU load and a large project portfolio at the same time
- Available to start immediately
