IT Director – Health Division
£80,000 – £95,000 + Benefits + Potential Bonus
Lincolnshire | Hybrid
Applause IT are working with a growing UK health and care organisation to appoint an IT Director to lead technology across its Health division.
This is a genuine opportunity for an ambitious Head of IT, Head of Technology, Head of Engineering or senior technology leader to take the next step in their career.
You'll join the Health Senior Leadership Team and become the key technology leader for a division delivering specialist clinical and neurodevelopmental services across the UK.
And importantly, this isn't a traditional infrastructure and IT support leadership role.
Technology and software are fundamental to how these services operate and scale. You'll work closely with software engineering teams, clinical and operational leaders, acting as the bridge between technical delivery and the outcomes the organisation is trying to achieve.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Group IT Director, you'll take ownership of day-to-day technology leadership across the Health division.
You'll have the autonomy to drive execution within Health while remaining closely aligned with the wider Group technology strategy.
Your remit will include:
- Leading technology across the Health division and representing IT within its Senior Leadership Team
- Working closely with software engineering teams around platforms, systems and technical delivery
- Translating technology and engineering priorities into clear business outcomes
- Aligning the technology roadmap with the needs of clinical, operational and commercial teams
- Providing leadership and oversight across critical applications, platforms and technology services
- Supporting the continued growth and evolution of digital health services
- Connecting divisional priorities with the wider Group technology strategy
- Building strong relationships across technology, engineering and senior leadership

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For
We're particularly interested in technology leaders who have operated at the intersection of IT, software engineering and the wider business.
You might already be an IT Director or Technology Director, but equally, this could be your opportunity to make the step up from a Head of IT, Head of Technology, Head of Engineering or similar leadership position.
You'll ideally bring:
- Significant technology leadership experience
- Experience leading software engineering/development teams or working closely alongside them
- A broader understanding of technology beyond traditional IT infrastructure and support
- Experience owning or influencing technology platforms, applications and technical delivery
- Confidence working with senior leadership teams and non-technical stakeholders
- The ability to translate complex technical subjects into commercial and operational outcomes
- A pragmatic, hands-on leadership style with the ability to move between strategy and execution

Experience within healthcare, clinical services or another regulated environment would be valuable, but isn't essential.
Why Consider It?
This is an opportunity to take on genuine Director-level ownership without needing to already be a career IT Director. You'll inherit a broad technology challenge within a growing Health business where software and digital platforms have a meaningful impact on how services are delivered.
You'll have visibility at Senior Leadership Team level, close access to Group technology leadership and the opportunity to influence how technology develops as the division continues to grow.
For someone who has built their career around technology, software engineering and business transformation and is ready for greater ownership, it's a significant next step.
