MADE Careers is partnering with a leading international architecture and design practice looking to appoint a Director of International Business Development.

Working closely with the Group Chair and senior leadership, this person will take a strategic role in developing the practice’s international business, identifying where the strongest opportunities lie, building senior client relationships and helping convert those relationships into new and repeat work.

With an established presence across a number of international markets, the focus is not simply on opening doors. It’s about bringing greater structure to how opportunities are identified and pursued, connecting relationships and market intelligence across the business, and working with regional and sector leaders to build a stronger international pipeline.

The Role

Working across new markets, existing growth regions and key global sectors, you’ll help identify where the practice should focus its business development activity and build the relationships needed to support long term growth.

You’ll develop relationships with clients, developers, institutional partners, consultants and other key industry contacts, while working closely with regional and sector leadership to identify opportunities, strengthen existing accounts and connect relationships across the wider international business.

Alongside relationship development, you’ll bring together client and market intelligence from across the practice and work with Bid and Communications teams on the strategy behind priority pursuits, pitches and major opportunities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why This Role

This is a senior international business development role with direct access to the leadership of an established global design practice, but with plenty still to build.

There is already a large international footprint, client base and network to work with. The opportunity is to bring those pieces together more effectively - developing new relationships, growing existing accounts and creating a clearer route from market intelligence through to winning work.

Success will be measured through pipeline growth, improved conversion, repeat work, stronger key accounts and greater collaboration between regions and studios.
