Director, Investment Risk & Operations Technology
Location: London (Hybrid Working)

The Opportunity
A leading UK investment management organisation is seeking a senior technology leader to take ownership of its Investment, Risk and Operations technology estate.
Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, this role will lead multiple technology and product teams responsible for delivering the platforms and capabilities that support investment decision-making, risk management, portfolio construction, trading, investment operations, and back-office processes.
This is a highly visible leadership position at the intersection of business strategy and technology, with responsibility for shaping the future platform landscape and delivering critical transformation programmes.
Key Strategic Responsibilities
Risk Management Platform (Priority)
- Lead the design, selection, and delivery of a new enterprise-wide risk management capability from the ground up.
- Define the target operating model, technology roadmap, and implementation strategy, ensuring the platform supports portfolio risk monitoring, investment governance, regulatory requirements, and business growth.
Portfolio Management Platform
- Own and evolve the firm's portfolio management capability and associated investment systems.
- Define the long-term roadmap and lead a likely future platform transformation or migration programme involving solutions such as:
- Charles River
- Aladdin
- Objectway Front Office
- Other market-leading investment management platforms

Back Office Platform
- Provide strategic ownership of the back-office technology estate, centred on the Objectway Eximius platform.
- Ensure operational resilience, scalability, service excellence, and alignment with future business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the technology strategy across Investment, Risk, and Operations.
- Lead multiple product, engineering, and delivery teams responsible for critical investment platforms.
- Partner with Investment, Risk, Operations, and Executive stakeholders to define technology priorities and roadmaps.
- Own platform investment decisions, vendor relationships, and major transformation programmes.
- Ensure technology capabilities support portfolio construction, suitability assessment, client outcomes, and investment governance.
- Balance strategic change, regulatory commitments, and operational priorities across the portfolio.
- Drive architectural consistency, application modernisation, and platform optimisation.
- Establish strong governance, risk management, and control frameworks.
- Provide executive-level reporting, business cases, and technology strategy recommendations.
- Build high-performing teams and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Experience Required
- Senior leadership experience within Asset Management, Wealth Management, Investment Management, or Capital Markets.
- Proven experience owning investment, risk, or operations technology platforms.
- Experience delivering large-scale platform transformation programmes.
- Strong understanding of portfolio management, investment operations, and risk management processes.
- Ability to engage effectively with C-suite stakeholders and business leadership teams.
- Experience balancing strategy, delivery, operational resilience, and technology governance.

Highly Desirable
- Experience implementing or operating risk management platforms.
- Strong knowledge of portfolio management systems such as Charles River, Aladdin, or Objectway Front Office.
- Experience with Objectway Eximius or equivalent investment operations platforms.
- Understanding of investment data, market data, and integration architectures.
- Experience managing significant third-party technology relationships and vendors.
- Knowledge of architecture, service management, and technology governance frameworks.
