Director of IT Infrastructure & Operations
Location: High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, hybrid, office based 3 days per week
Salary: Up to 110K plus car allowance, 20% bonus, and excellent benefits package
About The Opportunity
Our client is a market-leading UK technology manufacturer with global operations, designing, engineering, and manufacturing specialist technology for international markets.
They are now looking for a Director of IT Infrastructure & Operations to lead infrastructure strategy, operations, and service delivery across 15+ global locations.
This is a significant transformation opportunity, moving from historically regional and legacy infrastructure towards a centralised, standardised, and measurable group-wide technology environment.
You will shape the global infrastructure roadmap, develop the Infrastructure and IT Support functions, improve service delivery, and ensure technology investment supports the organisation's continued growth.
Role & Responsibilities
As Director of IT Infrastructure & Operations, you will take ownership of the organisation's global infrastructure strategy, operational technology services, and service delivery capability.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Developing and delivering a global IT infrastructure strategy and roadmap
- Standardising infrastructure across 15+ international locations to improve reliability, supportability, and service
- Modernising legacy and regionally managed infrastructure into a more centralised group-wide technology environment
- Evaluating infrastructure technologies and ensuring solutions are aligned with business, operational, and security requirements
- Leading major infrastructure transformation and change programmes, balancing pace of change with successful adoption
- Developing the Infrastructure and IT Support teams into a collaborative global function with unified standards and direction
- Owning IT Support and Service Delivery, using ITIL principles to improve service quality and business alignment
- Managing infrastructure budgets, expenditure, contracts, and supplier relationships
- Leading technology and supplier selection, negotiation, and ongoing service-performance management
- Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders to understand business needs and support the adoption of new technology
- Developing effective relationships with strategic third-party providers and ensuring contractual and service commitments are achieved
- Establishing appropriate standards, governance, performance measures, and continuous improvement
- Supporting security and resilience across the infrastructure estate, including identity, endpoint, network, and monitoring technologies

Qualifications
Key Requirements
You will be an experienced IT Infrastructure & Operations leader from a manufacturing environment, combining strategic leadership with sufficient technical depth to make informed infrastructure and technology decisions.
Essential Skills and Experience Include
- Significant IT Infrastructure & Operations leadership experience within manufacturing
- Experience developing and contributing to an IT infrastructure strategy and roadmap within a mid-sized or larger organisation
- Proven delivery of infrastructure transformation across multi-site and multi-country environments
- Strong technical breadth across networking, hardware, desktop, data centres, operating systems, and Azure hybrid environments
- Continued hands-on technical engagement, with the ability to evaluate solutions and determine the right infrastructure for business requirements
- Leadership and development of Infrastructure, IT Operations, and IT Support teams across multiple locations
- Experience moving from regional or fragmented infrastructure towards centralised and standardised group services
- Strong IT service delivery and ITIL knowledge
- Commercial responsibility for infrastructure budgets, suppliers, contracts, and technology investment
- Strong vendor management, including supplier selection, commercial negotiation, and service performance
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence at all organisational levels
- Knowledge of ISO 27001, IT governance, and regulatory frameworks such as NIS2
- Technical understanding of Azure hybrid environments, firewalls, endpoint protection/antivirus, BitLocker, SIEM, MFA, and Zero Trust Network Architecture
- Ability to balance technology modernisation with business readiness, adoption, and operational continuity
