We’re partnering with a high-performing secondary school in South London to appoint an experienced Director of IT. This is a pivotal leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape and deliver a forward-thinking digital strategy across a dynamic and ambitious school environment.
The opportunity
You’ll lead the strategic and operational direction of IT, ensuring robust, secure, and innovative systems that support both teaching and learning, as well as wider school operations. Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a key role in driving digital transformation and embedding technology across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development and delivery of the school’s IT strategy
- Overseeing IT infrastructure, networks, and cloud services (including Microsoft 365 environments)
- Managing IT operations to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing systems
- Acting as the lead for data protection, compliance, and cybersecurity
- Leading and developing a small IT team, including recruitment and performance management
- Managing IT budgets, suppliers, and contracts effectively
- Driving innovation in digital teaching and learning

What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in IT leadership, within an education setting
- Strong technical knowledge across infrastructure, cloud services, and cybersecurity
- Experience delivering IT strategy aligned to organisational goals
- Confidence managing budgets, suppliers, and IT projects
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- A strategic mindset combined with a hands-on approach
