Manufacturing Director
A sector leading manufacturer of complex engineered products to the Aerospace, Defence and High Technology sectors has a new vacancy for a Manufacturing Director and has appointed Vectis to manage the recruitment. With a global footprint, the company is significantly expanding its UK operations and this position will lead manufacturing operations, drive operational excellence and support the company’s continued growth.
The Role
- Develop a world-class comprehensive manufacturing strategy to ensure long-term growth and sustainability.
- Drive operational excellence, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Improve productivity, efficiency, cost control, and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational performance.
- Identify and initiate ways to reduce waste, streamline operations, and apply lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Oversee staffing levels to balance productivity and cost efficiency.
- Provide Design for Manufacturing input during new product development.
- Manage the manufacturing budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing management team.
- Optimize capacity, resources, processes, and supply chain performance.
- Manage operational budgets, capital investment, and performance against key KPIs.

The Person

- Significant senior-level experience in a complex and highly regulated manufacturing operation.
- Proven success in improving productivity, profitability, and operational performance.
- Strong leadership, people management, and change management capabilities.
- A solid understanding of lean manufacturing, process optimization, and performance management.
- Excellent commercial, financial, and strategic decision-making skills.
- The ability to inspire teams, influence stakeholders, and deliver measurable results.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field (preferred).
- Eligible for UK Security Clearance.
