Director of Natural Resources
The Duchy of Cornwall – a dynamic future-focused landed estate dedicated to creating positive impact for people, places and the planet - is looking for a Director of Natural Resources to play a key role in delivering the Duchy’s environmental, commercial and social objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the Duchy's role in contracting and governance for Landscape Recovery projects and the Isles of Scilly Seabird Recovery Project, negotiating with Defra and partners to secure long-term funding.
- Following contract award, providing strategic oversight, governance and reporting throughout project delivery.
- Leading the development and implementation of blended finance approaches, attracting private and philanthropic investment alongside public funding.
- Providing strategic leadership and coordination across emerging natural capital and payment-for-outcome opportunities, including biodiversity, carbon and water markets.
- Acting as a key external representative, maintaining strong relationships with investors, partners and stakeholders whilst sharing knowledge and opportunities across the Duchy.
- Providing governance oversight for relevant Single Legal Entities (SLEs), including potential Director or Trustee appointments.
- Providing portfolio-level financial modelling and analysis to support estate strategy, place-based planning and major management decisions across the rural estate.
- Leading financial appraisal and business case development for acquisitions and asset management opportunities across land, forestry, marine and minerals.

Skills and Experience
- Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to secure complex commercial agreements and influence senior decision makers.
- Strong leadership experience, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, develop people and drive organisational performance.
- Significant experience in natural capital, green finance and payments for ecosystem services, including carbon, biodiversity and water markets.
- Strong financial modelling, investment appraisal and business case development skills, supported by relevant financial, accounting or analytical qualifications.
- A strong understanding of land, property and natural resource management, including associated legal, commercial and operational considerations.

Salary: £93,000 - £107,000 per annum.
Contract and Hours: Permanent, full-time.
Location: Newton St Loe, Bath.
