Operations Director – Europe

We are supporting a proven international contractor in the appointment of an Operations Director – Europe to take full operational and P&L responsibility for a European business unit currently generating approximately €150m in annual revenue.

This is a genuine executive leadership position with accountability for the performance, profitability and continued growth of the European operation.

The business has an established track record delivering major mission critical projects across Europe and is looking for an accomplished operational leader capable of driving the next stage of its development.

The Mandate

You will assume full ownership of the European business unit, including:

  • Full P&L responsibility for a c.€150m operation
  • Executive oversight of multiple mission critical projects across Europe
  • Accountability for operational performance, profitability, programme and delivery
  • Leadership of Project Directors and senior operational teams across multiple countries
  • Driving consistency in project controls, commercial performance and operational standards
  • Oversight of resource planning and senior leadership appointments
  • Working closely with Commercial, Preconstruction, Engineering and Supply Chain leadership
  • Managing key client relationships at executive level
  • Identifying operational risk and intervening early on underperforming projects
  • Supporting bid strategy, project selection and go/no-go decisions
  • Developing the organisational structure required to support further European growth

Reporting directly into the executive leadership team

The Person

We are looking for an established senior leader from the mission critical construction market.
You are likely to currently operate at Operations Director, Managing Director, Regional Director, VP or equivalent level, with:

  • Significant experience leading large-scale construction operations
  • Proven P&L ownership
  • Experience managing a business unit or portfolio of comparable scale
  • A strong track record delivering complex mission critical projects
  • Experience leading multiple Project Directors and senior management teams
  • Strong commercial awareness alongside operational expertise
  • The ability to operate effectively across different European markets
  • Executive-level client and stakeholder management capability
  • A track record of improving operational performance while scaling a business

This is not simply a project oversight position. We are looking for someone capable of running a substantial European operation as a business in its own right.

Package

  • €300,000 base salary
  • c.40% performance bonus

The position will involve approximately 80–90% travel across Europe, so candidates can be based in most major European locations with strong international connectivity.
