Operations Director

Multi-Site Manufacturing | Operational Excellence | Supply Chain | Strategic Sourcing | Permanent or Interim

Harper Fox Partners has been exclusively engaged to appoint an Operations Director on behalf of a global manufacturing organisation currently experiencing significant growth and expansion.

This is a highly visible senior leadership appointment with responsibility for two key manufacturing sites and approximately 250 employees across both operations.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Operations Director will provide leadership across Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain & Planning, Strategic Sourcing and Continuous Improvement, ensuring the operational infrastructure, leadership capability and processes are in place to support the organisation's continued growth.

The successful individual will play a critical role in driving performance across delivery, quality, cost, productivity, working capital and supply-chain resilience, while developing a high-performing and accountable operational culture across both sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing strategic and operational leadership across two manufacturing sites and approximately 250 employees
  • Leading Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain & Planning, Strategic Sourcing and Continuous Improvement
  • Ensuring operational capability and capacity can support significant business growth
  • Driving improvements across safety, quality, on-time delivery, productivity, cost and customer performance
  • Strengthening material availability, inventory performance, planning and supply-chain resilience
  • Improving supplier performance and developing strategic sourcing capability
  • Establishing effective operational rhythms, governance and performance management across both sites
  • Identifying operational constraints and leading structured improvement programmes
  • Building, coaching and developing a high-performing leadership team
  • Partnering closely with Quality, Project Management, Finance, Commercial, HR and customer-facing teams
  • Leading operational and organisational change while embedding a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

We are particularly interested in speaking with individuals who bring:

  • Proven Operations Director or senior operational leadership experience within manufacturing
  • Experience leading sizeable, multi-site manufacturing operations
  • Strong leadership experience across Manufacturing and Supply Chain
  • A track record of supporting businesses through significant growth, transformation or operational change
  • Demonstrable Continuous Improvement and operational excellence expertise
  • Strong understanding of planning, sourcing, inventory and supplier performance
  • Evidence of delivering measurable improvements across operational KPIs
  • Strong people leadership and experience developing senior operational teams
  • Commercial awareness and confidence operating with executive-level stakeholders
  • A hands-on, data-driven and customer-focused leadership approach

Permanent & Interim Candidates

While this represents a key long-term leadership appointment, the organisation is also open to considering experienced interim Operations Directors who can quickly enter the business, establish credibility and provide immediate operational leadership during this period of significant growth.
