6 months contract with a local authority

Summary

This role involves leading, managing, and delivering the strategic development and operational performance of Adult Social Care services on a 6-month contract with a local authority. The position is crucial in ensuring the provision of high-quality, person-centred services that cater to the needs of vulnerable adults, promote independence, and achieve positive outcomes. The postholder will ensure compliance with statutory responsibilities and the effective use of resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and support to the Director’s Board, Cabinet Members, and Portfolio Holders to shape Adult Social Care services.
  • Lead the strategic planning and transformation of Adult Social Care, including establishing and overseeing program transformation initiatives.
  • Influence and steer service design, determining priorities and evaluating delivery models.
  • Deputise for the Executive Director – Adults and Health as required.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective Adult Social Care services that meet diverse and complex needs.
  • Anticipate and respond effectively to the needs of vulnerable, hard-to-reach, and high-risk individuals.
  • Lead the development of innovative care models, including community-based and home-support approaches.
  • Promote independence and wellbeing of service users through effective service provision.
  • Monitor and review service performance, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Essential Experience

  • Significant experience in Adult Social Care at a senior or middle management level with demonstrable success.
  • Proven track record in leading service transformation, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience of multi-agency and partnership working across sectors.
  • Strong experience in managing budgets and understanding financial implications of strategic decisions.

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree-level education or equivalent.
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., Social Work Degree, Diploma in Social Work, CQSW or equivalent).
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (required).

Additional Information

  • Working hours: 37 hours per week.
  • Location: Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, Essex, RM17 6SL, United Kingdom.
  • Work pattern: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
  • Enhanced DBS required.
  • Bi-weekly work schedule.
