Director of Operations - Leicester Marriott Hotel

We are currently recruiting for a Director of Operations to join the Senior Leadership team and oversee the operational team at the Leicester Marriott Hotel.

About the Role

As Director of Operations, you will be responsible for the strategic direction of the Operational departments (Engineering, Housekeeping, Front Office, Kitchen and Food & Beverage), managing and executing the hotel’s operational teams in order to deliver the highest standard of service possible.

Our Director of Operations will report to the Hotel’s General Manager, the Operational Managers will report directly into you and you will work with them to manage the operational teams.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Extensive knowledge of hotel operations including rooms, food and beverage, event management, if applicable
  • Solid knowledge of food and beverage concepts and sales strategies
  • Knowledge of revenue management and marketing strategies
  • Ability to understand complex sales organization and corresponding sales processes
  • Retail merchandising skills
  • Knowledge of purchasing, inventory controls, supplies and equipment and overall hotel operations as they affect department
  • Knowledge of governmental regulations and safety standards (OSHA, EPA, ADA, CFC, NFPA)
  • Working knowledge of hotel laws governing operations
  • Strong organization skills and ability to effectively manage labour productivity
  • Financial management skills e.g., ability to analyse P&L statements, develop operating budgets, forecasting and capital expenditure planning
  • Ability to use standard software applications and hotel systems and strategic planning skills
  • Ability to evaluate business trends, determine applicability to customer profile and modify business strategies accordingly
  • Ability to creatively execute against the strategy and drive results; can originate and invent new ways to create a unique guest experience and maximize revenue
  • Ability to take constructive action without relying on directions from others and to network and build relationships to grow the business
  • Ability to exercise flexibility rather than rigid adherence to procedures in order to accomplish goals
  • Effective decision-making skills; can choose a course of action amongst options involving uncertainty or risk
  • Strong problem-solving skills; encourages new innovative solutions when appropriate and strong communication/negotiation skills (verbal, listening, writing)
  • Strong customer and associate relation skills
  • As part of the Senior Leadership Team, support the General Manager and Peers to ensure a flawless guest experience is delivered throughout the hotel and
