The opportunity

We’re looking for an exceptional Director of People & Culture to join our senior leadership team and help shape the next chapter of Accord.

This is much more than a traditional HR role. We want someone who understands that great businesses are built by great people, and who can translate our commercial ambitions into a progressive, practical and inspiring people strategy.

Working closely with the CEO, Board and senior leadership team, you will take responsibility for our people strategy, culture and organisational development, ensuring we have the structure, leadership, capabilities and talent we need to perform today and grow successfully tomorrow.

You’ll combine strategic thinking with a willingness to get involved. You’ll be a trusted advisor to our leaders, an advocate for our people and a positive force for change across the business.

What you’ll lead

You will own and continually evolve Accord’s People & Culture strategy, with responsibility for:

  • Shaping our organisational structure and workforce strategy in line with our commercial ambitions.
  • Advising the CEO, Board and senior leaders on all people, organisational and cultural matters.
  • Developing a high-performance culture where expectations are clear, great work is recognised, and people are supported to succeed.
  • Building leadership and management capability across the business.
  • Developing succession plans and identifying and nurturing our future leaders.
  • Leading our approach to talent attraction, retention and development.
  • Ensuring learning and development builds the skills and capabilities our business will need in the future.
  • Leading the full employee lifecycle and ensuring we deliver an excellent employee experience.
  • Evolving our approach to performance, reward, recognition, benefits and wellbeing.
  • Working with Marketing to strengthen our employer brand and reputation as a great place to build a career.
  • Ensuring our policies and practices remain compliant, progressive and appropriate for a modern workplace.
  • Helping us anticipate how technology and AI will change roles, skills and the way we work.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You’ll understand how culture, leadership, talent and organisational effectiveness contribute directly to business performance.

You’ll be comfortable challenging constructively, making difficult decisions when necessary and bringing clarity to complex people issues. And you’ll be someone who genuinely enjoys building relationships - collaborative, pragmatic, approachable and low ego.

CIPD qualification is preferred, although significant relevant experience and a strong track record will matter more to us.
