We’re looking for exceptional freelance Directors of Photography to join our network and lead the visual execution of productions for ambitious e-commerce and consumer brands.
This is not a content creator role. We’re looking for experienced DoPs who know how to take a creative brief, step into an unfamiliar environment, and create imagery with a distinct visual point of view.
Our productions take you into the real world of our clients: manufacturing floors, warehouses, workshops, offices, studios, and operational environments. Your job is to find the visual story within those spaces and translate it into cinematic, authentic, commercially relevant photography and film.
You’ll work closely with our Creative Directors and production teams, bringing your own cinematographic expertise to every shoot. We’ll give you the context, creative objective, and brand world. You own the visual interpretation and execution.
The Role
As a freelance DoP, you’ll take ownership of the visual side of productions from preparation through capture.
- Lead Cinematography: Own the visual execution of shoots, including camera, lenses, lighting, composition, movement, and overall image quality.
- Interpret Creative Direction: Turn creative concepts and references into a coherent visual language that works within the realities of each location and production.
- Shoot in Real Environments: Work across production facilities, warehouses, workshops, offices, retail environments, and sets, often finding the strongest images in uncontrolled or unconventional spaces.
- Create Commercially Strong Imagery: Capture products, people, processes, and brand stories with the visual sophistication expected of premium commercial work.
- Direct Talent & Contributors: Confidently work with founders, employees, creators, and other non-professional talent to create performances that feel natural, authentic, and visually compelling.
- Make Creative Decisions On Set: Read a location quickly, identify opportunities, adapt to changing conditions, and make decisive visual choices without relying on extensive oversight.
- Own Your Production: Arrive prepared with the appropriate camera, lens, lighting, stabilization, and sound setup for the brief. You are expected to know what the production requires and how to execute it efficiently.
- Deliver Exceptional Footage: Provide well-organized, technically sound, high-quality footage and photography that gives our post-production and creative teams the strongest possible material to work with.
- Work at Social Scale: Understand the visual requirements of modern digital platforms without compromising cinematographic quality. Vertical, horizontal, short-form, and long-form all require a considered visual approach.
- Collaborate at a Senior Level: Partner with Creative Directors, strategists, producers, and client stakeholders as an experienced visual specialist. You contribute ideas rather than simply take instructions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who We’re Looking For
This role is for established freelance DoPs who have developed a strong visual instinct and can confidently lead a production from behind the camera.
You likely have:
- A substantial commercial portfolio across film, photography, branded content, advertising, editorial, or related disciplines.
- A distinctive visual point of view and a strong command of light, composition, movement, lensing, and camera language.
- The technical depth to lead a shoot independently, from equipment selection and lighting strategy to camera operation and on-set problem solving.
- Strong directing instincts and the ability to get exceptional material from real people in real environments.
- Excellent production judgment: you know when to plan meticulously, when to improvise, and how to protect the quality of the work when circumstances change.
- The confidence to work directly with clients and senior creative stakeholders while maintaining a calm, professional presence on set.
- An understanding of contemporary visual culture: you know what is resonating across social and digital platforms, but you’re not dependent on trends to make something visually strong.
- A high level of autonomy: you are accustomed to running your own freelance productions, managing equipment, logistics, travel, and preparation without hand-holding.

Most importantly, you have taste.

We’re interested in the work, not the résumé.
Please share your portfolio, prioritizing work that demonstrates your cinematography, visual storytelling, lighting, and ability to work with people, products, and real-world environments.
We’re particularly interested in DoPs who can bring a premium visual sensibility to environments that aren’t traditionally considered cinematic.
Please include your standard freelance day rate or half-day rate with your application.
International travel may be required AND will be covered.
