About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Director of Primary Care to lead a major primary care organisation through its next phase of development and transformation.

The organisation manages six GP surgeries across Sussex, supporting a combined patient population of approximately 48,500. Working closely with NHS community services, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape how integrated, community-focused primary care is delivered across East and West Sussex.

This is a senior strategic leadership position with responsibility for operational performance, service transformation, financial sustainability, and the future development of a growing portfolio of GP practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership across a diverse portfolio of GP practices
  • Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and financially sustainable primary care services
  • Lead operational performance, service transformation, and innovation
  • Oversee governance, quality, risk management, and regulatory compliance
  • Maintain readiness for CQC inspection and drive continuous improvement
  • Develop and deliver strategic and business plans
  • Ensure contractual, financial, and quality performance targets are achieved
  • Lead service improvement, transformation, and integration programs
  • Identify opportunities for business development and organizational growth
  • Build strong relationships across the wider Sussex health and care system
  • Develop a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an accomplished senior healthcare leader with a strong track record within NHS Primary Care.

You Will Bring

  • Significant senior leadership experience within NHS Primary Care
  • Strong operational management experience
  • Experience leading transformation and organizational change
  • In-depth understanding of GP contracts, governance, quality, and performance management
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness
  • Excellent strategic thinking and decision-making skills
  • Ability to build relationships and influence at senior and system level
  • Experience working successfully across organizational boundaries
  • A strong understanding of the wider NHS and Primary Care landscape
