Director of Product Development

Access Control | Intercom Systems | Security Products

CAME UK is looking for an experienced Product Development Director to lead the next generation of our UK-designed access control, intercom and security products. Based at our recently refurbished offices in Livingston, near Edinburgh, this is a senior leadership opportunity with responsibility for our multidisciplinary Hardware, Firmware, Software and Product Management teams.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will play a key role in shaping our product strategy and technology roadmap, balancing innovation, customer needs, commercial priorities and technical delivery.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Leading and developing high-performing hardware, firmware and software teams
  • Owning the end-to-end product development lifecycle from concept through to manufacturing and launch
  • Setting the technical direction and long-term product development strategy
  • Driving UK and EU regulatory, safety, EMC and cybersecurity compliance
  • Working closely with manufacturing, supply chain and our Group HQ in Italy
  • Managing departmental budgets and ensuring resources support our strategic priorities
  • Building strong collaboration across Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Quality and Commercial teams

What we're looking for:

We're looking for a proven senior product development leader with strong technical credibility and experience delivering complex electronic and software-based products to market. Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Significant experience leading electrical/electronic product development
  • Strong knowledge across hardware, firmware and software
  • Experience taking products from concept through to volume production
  • Proven leadership of multiple engineering teams
  • Experience with UK/EU regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Strong commercial, strategic and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working with international manufacturing partners

Experience in access control, intercom, smart building, physical security, embedded or connected products would be particularly valuable.
