About the Team
The Primary Care Product team is responsible for shaping the future of digital healthcare through EMIS-X, our next-generation cloud-based healthcare platform.
GP practices face growing pressure to deliver safe, high-quality care while managing increasing demand, complex workflows and limited capacity. EMIS-X has been designed to help meet these challenges through modern, secure and interoperable technology that enables clinicians to work more effectively while improving patient outcomes.
Built in collaboration with frontline healthcare professionals, EMIS-X combines the proven reliability of EMIS Web® with cloud-native innovation, creating a connected ecosystem that supports primary care today while enabling the future of healthcare delivery. The team works closely with Engineering, Design, Clinical, Commercial and Customer functions to deliver solutions that improve user experience, streamline workflows and support better care across the NHS.
About the Role
We are looking for a Product Director, Primary Care (EMIS-X) to lead the strategic direction, planning and execution of our flagship primary care platform.

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for defining and delivering the long-term product vision for EMIS-X, ensuring it continues to meet the evolving needs of GP practices, clinicians and healthcare organisations across England. You will drive the continued evolution of the platform, balancing innovation, customer value and commercial objectives while supporting NHS digital transformation priorities.
As a member of the Product Leadership team, you will lead a high-performing team of Product Managers, Product Owners and Designers, working closely with senior stakeholders across the business to deliver meaningful outcomes for customers, clinicians and patients.
Key responsibilities of the role
- Define and deliver the long-term product vision, strategy and roadmap for EMIS-X, ensuring alignment with customer needs, NHS priorities and business objectives.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of Product Managers, Product Owners and Designers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Drive the evolution of EMIS-X as a modern, cloud-based healthcare platform, delivering intuitive user experiences, intelligent workflows and operational efficiencies for GP practices.
- Partner with Engineering, Clinical, Commercial and Customer teams to successfully deliver strategic product initiatives and maximise customer value.
- Build strong relationships with NHS stakeholders, customers and industry partners to shape product strategy and support market adoption.
- Oversee portfolio governance, investment planning and product performance, ensuring effective prioritisation and delivery of measurable business outcomes.

You are a strategic product leader with a passion for improving healthcare through technology. You combine customer focus, commercial awareness and product expertise to create solutions that deliver meaningful value for healthcare professionals and patients.
You are comfortable operating at executive level, influencing across a complex organisation and leading teams through change. You build trusted relationships, make data-informed decisions and thrive in a fast-paced environment where innovation, collaboration and delivery excellence are essential.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Significant experience leading product strategy and product management teams within healthcare technology, SaaS or enterprise software environments.
- Strong understanding of UK primary care, NHS structures and digital transformation priorities.
- Proven success defining and delivering product roadmaps for complex, customer-facing technology platforms.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams within a matrix organisation and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance customer needs, business objectives and market opportunities.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills, with experience operating at executive level.
- Knowledge of cloud-native platforms, interoperability, modern software delivery practices and data-driven product management.
