Director, Project Management

Quanex is looking for a Director, Project Management to join our team. The successful candidate can be located in any Quanex location globally, with regular travel as needed to ensure effective project completion.

Summary

The Director of Project Management is responsible for the execution, and governance of major projects and programs across the global Quanex organization, along with applying a consistent change management approach. Projects overseen by this role will have either large financial impact, broad employee impact, or both, and will require close collaboration with leaders across the business divisions and corporate functions.

What Success Looks Like

  • Oversee and lead assigned complex programs and major projects to ensure on-time delivery, internal/external customer satisfaction, within scope, and meeting budget requirements.
  • Partner closely with business leaders to understand their goals and needs to align work appropriately and set key milestones and metrics in a way that is least disruptive to operations, customers, etc.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of implemented improvements or projects.
  • Coordinate approval of any change to processes or procedures that span multiple functions or business segments.
  • Work continually on self-development to stay current on production, sales, customer service, industry trends, and project and change management best practice.
  • Use and apply established change management methodology throughout the organization, including training project teams and using identified tools and templates to manage the change process.
  • Actively build buy-in with impacted employee groups on all PMO projects; Identify and address resistance to change, develop strategies to overcome challenges, and ensure successful adoption of change initiatives.
  • In close partnership with the Internal Communications team, communicate project progress and milestone achievement to key internal clients and, where appropriate, the organization as a whole.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and collaborate with divisions on project prioritization and resourcing when there are interdependencies with PMO-managed projects.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, including internationally.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Experience managing projects and coordinating resources, including those in other teams.
  • Experience managing budgets and project metrics.
  • Management experience strongly preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
