We're bringing services home.
Now we need exceptional leadership.
Salary up to £107,293
Adult social care in Salford is entering a defining chapter.
Following a landmark decision by the City Council, the whole of adult social care is returning to council leadership. As services transfer back into local authority control over the coming months, we have a unique opportunity to redesign, improve and strengthen how care and support is delivered across our city. This is one of the most significant transformation programmes currently underway in local government and we're looking for exceptional leaders who want to be part of it.
Our ambition goes beyond organisational change. We want to create a model of adult social care that delivers outstanding outcomes, promotes independence, reduces inequalities and reflects the voices of the people who draw on our services, carers and communities.
Significant investment has already been made. We have strengthened leadership, established an experienced Improvement Board and committed ourselves to driving sustainable improvement. Now we are looking to the future and building a service that Salford can be proud of.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
