Stockport NHS Foundation and Tameside and Glossop Integrated Foundation Trusts are seeking an exceptional and experienced leader to join our senior leadership team as Director of Quality Governance.
This is a high-profile strategic role offering the opportunity to influence quality, patient safety and governance across two progressive and ambitious NHS organisations. Reporting directly to the Chief Nurse, you will provide expert leadership and assurance on all aspects of quality governance, patient safety, risk management, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
As Director of Quality Governance, you will lead the Trust's Quality Governance Directorate, overseeing patient safety, risk management, complaints and PALS, patient experience, claims and inquests, health and safety, policy governance and regulatory compliance functions. You will work closely with Executive Directors, Divisional Leadership Teams, Board members and external partners to ensure the organisation maintains the highest standards of care, safety and quality.
About The Role
You will:
- Lead the development and delivery of the Trust's Quality Governance Strategy.
- Provide expert advice and assurance to the Executive Team and Board of Directors.
- Champion a culture of patient safety, openness, learning and continuous improvement.
- Lead implementation and oversight of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
- Oversee organisational risk management.
- Act as the senior lead for regulatory compliance, including Care Quality Commission (CQC) preparedness and inspections.
- Ensure learning from incidents, complaints, claims and external reviews translates into meaningful service improvement.
- Lead significant quality improvement, governance and transformation programmes across the Trust.

About You
We are looking for an inspiring and values-driven leader with:
- Significant senior leadership experience in NHS quality governance, patient safety and assurance.
- A proven track record of working with Trust Boards and Board Committees.
- Experience leading CQC improvement programmes and working with regulators and commissioners.
- Expertise in governance, risk management, quality improvement and regulatory compliance.
- Outstanding communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
- The credibility and confidence to operate effectively at executive and board level.
- A master's degree or equivalent experience, supported by ongoing professional development.
