Director of Sales, North & Central Europe
Location: London, United Kingdom (office based)
Team Description
North & Central Europe is one of SumUp's biggest and most competitive sales regions, spanning the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. As the region has grown, we've moved from a country-led model to a structure where sales leaders each specialize in one channel across the region, giving them the focus to go deeper while staying joined up across markets.
This role sits above that structure as the single owner of commercial performance across the region: deciding where budget and capacity should go, setting the pace on forecasting and pipeline discipline, and developing the leadership team behind ambitious growth targets.
It's a rare opportunity to shape a brand-new regional structure from the ground up, working across some of SumUp's most complex and most competitive markets, while staying close enough to the field to inspire teams and help them solve their toughest problems.
What You'll Do
- Own commercial performance across all sales channels in the region, working closely with sales leaders to spot opportunities for markets and channels to perform even better, and turning those insights into practical plans that lift results.
- Build a clear go-to-market plan for the region that accounts for local competition and market maturity.
- Decide where to invest budget and hiring capacity across markets and channels, and reallocate resources towards the areas delivering the strongest returns.
- Support and develop senior sales leaders to strengthen pipeline leadership, accelerate performance, and ensure long-term succession.
- Spend regular time in the field and in local sales offices, working directly alongside reps and managers to stay close to what's actually happening on the ground.

Iโm in my final year doing Economics and I donโt know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer โ it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donโt need a masters. Letโs look at the ones youโd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet โ that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
