JOB SUMMARY

Lead the Commercial Vision of Manchester's Most Anticipated Hotel Opening

A bold new destination is preparing to redefine luxury lifestyle hospitality in one of the UK's most dynamic cities. W Manchester will bring the unmistakable energy, creativity and cultural relevance of W Hotels to the heart of Manchester, a city renowned for its music, fashion, sport and entrepreneurial spirit.

Designed to become a destination in its own right, W Manchester will combine striking design, vibrant social spaces and innovative guest experiences that reflect the city's progressive character. As part of the pre-opening Executive Leadership Team, this is a rare opportunity to shape the commercial success of a landmark hotel from its earliest stages and establish its position within one of Europe's most exciting hospitality markets.

We are seeking an exceptional Director of Sales to drive revenue growth, cultivate influential partnerships and position W Manchester as the destination of choice for luxury leisure, corporate and group travellers.

About the Role

As Director of Sales, you will lead and manage all day-to-day sales activities, developing long-term, value-driven customer relationships that support the achievement of the hotel's commercial objectives.

Working closely with the General Manager, Revenue Management, Marketing and Marriott's wider sales organisation, you will create and execute strategic sales initiatives that maximise revenue opportunities across all market segments. This role combines commercial leadership, relationship management and team development, ensuring W Manchester achieves strong market penetration while delivering exceptional experiences that inspire guest loyalty.

You will be responsible for achieving personal booking goals, leading a high-performing sales team and helping to establish the commercial foundations that will underpin the hotel's long-term success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the property's sales strategy, ensuring alignment with W Hotels' brand vision, market positioning and revenue objectives.
  • Lead all day-to-day sales activities, driving performance across corporate, group, leisure and event segments.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key clients, partners, stakeholders and industry networks to generate long-term business opportunities.
  • Partner with Revenue Management to maximise room, meeting and catering revenues through effective forecasting and market analysis.
  • Represent W Manchester at industry events, trade shows, sales missions and networking opportunities to strengthen brand visibility and market share.
  • Coach, mentor and develop the sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and high performance.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and customer feedback, ensuring exceptional service delivery before, during and after each programme or event.
  • Collaborate with ownership, Marriott commercial teams and hotel leadership to achieve financial goals while maintaining brand excellence.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
