Eames are partnering with a fast-growing, venture-backed technology business in the entertainment sector to hire a Director of Tax & Accounting Services.
Our client has grown quickly since launch and built a large, fast-expanding user base of creative professionals. Many of them need help with tax and bookkeeping, particularly ahead of Making Tax Digital, so the business is launching a new in-house tax and accounting service.
You'll be the first accountant in the new service line, reporting directly to the CEO. They are looking for a first / second time mover from practice with outstanding commercial acumen and desire to progress.
Key Tasks / Responsibilities:
- Self-Assessment: Prepare and file returns for everyone from simple sole traders to actors with several income sources, PAYE work and repeat fees.
- Bookkeeping & Accounts: Deliver quarterly bookkeeping for members, prepare year-end accounts for limited companies, and get members ready for Making Tax Digital.
- Client Advisory: Give actors a wide range of accounting and tax advice, explained clearly and without jargon.
- Practice Set-Up: Build the practice from scratch. This covers HMRC registration and agent codes, AML supervision and client due diligence, engagement letters, PI cover, and filing and bookkeeping software.
- Member Experience & Compliance: Own turnaround times, escalations, guidance and webinars. Keep the service compliant with your institute's rules, GDPR, ISO 27001 and SOC 2.
- Team Growth: Hire as client numbers grow and build a first-class tax and accounting team for the entertainment and media industry.
- Efficiency & Automation: Take an AI-first approach, using templates, automation and contract support to cut the hours spent on routine work each quarter.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
