Job Description

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial and Operating Officer, you will ensure high-quality delivery alongside strengthening governance and controls across international jurisdictions ensuring Tax, statutory and compliance obligations are followed.

You will be responsible for continuity of the current operating model, while moving towards stronger risk management, clearer accountability alongside improving use of data and systems.

In addition, a key priority for this role is leading continuous transformation across Tax and International Finance, working closely with stakeholders, ensuring the business is at the forefront of technology and change.

Key Responsibilities

Tax

  • Accountable for Tax across the business, from strategy to delivery.
  • Develop and deliver the Tax strategy, governance and risk management framework ensuring Tax implications are considered in all jurisdictions.
  • Manage relationships with Tax authorities globally, working in partnerships with regional finance managers, including audit management.
  • Manage topics as diverse as new country entry, permanent establishment risk, funding strategies, VAT optimization, Tax reporting, transfer pricing and other consequences of the international operations of the business.
  • Oversee the preparation, review and timely submission of key tax filings and tax accounting outputs, with clear accountability between Tax and Financial Control for preparation, review and approval.

International Finance

  • Lead the international finance team, providing strategic direction, technical support and a strong connection to the wider finance function.
  • Own the control environment and risk oversight for regional finance activity across MENACA, APAC, the Americas and Africa. Ensuring clear standards and expectations are set and met.
  • Strengthen central oversight of regional finance activity, reducing key-person dependency and improving resilience, documentation and continuity of knowledge.
  • Ensure alignment across Tax, statutory reporting, transfer pricing, treasury-related processes and group audit requirements.

Travel

  • Lead the travel team to ensure effective, service-orientated and well-controlled operations. Including policy compliance, supplier management, duty-of-care support and reporting.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to ensure travel policy and processes remain proportionate, practical and aligned with the global operating model.
  • Improve spend visibility, policy compliance, exception management and manage the performance of travel suppliers and the travel management company.

Leadership, Controls and Transformation

  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual intervention, improve workflows and strengthen the quality, consistency and accessibility of Tax and finance data.
  • Develop clear management information and risk reporting that enables senior stakeholders to understand material tax, international finance and travel risks, trends and priorities.
  • Build capable, engaged teams with clear objectives, accountability, development plans and succession resilience.
  • Raise the profile of Tax, International Finance and Travel as proactive, pragmatic and value adding partners to the wider organisation.

The Successful Applicant

Person Specification

  • A recognized Tax qualification is preferred, or a qualified accountant with significant practical tax experience.
  • Previous international Tax and international finance experience is essential.
  • You will have substantial senior leadership experience that spans tax and international finance within a complex international organization.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK and International Tax and the ability to identify, assess, prioritise and manage risk across multiple Tax jurisdictions and areas.
  • Extensive experience of International Finance, including statutory reporting, audit, local compliance and the operation of finance teams across multiple jurisdictions and regions.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex Tax and finance matters clearly and succinctly to senior decision-makers.
  • Strong stakeholder management, with the ability to work effectively across Finance, HR, Legal, Payroll, Technology, regional teams and senior leadership.
  • A proactive, improvement-focused mindset alongside a track record of moving functions from reactive compliance deliver to an insight-led and value-adding model.
