We are recruiting an EMEA Director of Technical Excellence to join our team.

The Role

The Director of Engineering and Technical services provides strategic leadership for engineering and technical services across the EMEA region. This role represents this platform expertise, enabling accounts to deliver best in class FM Engineering Operations. The director will directly manage the Technical directors in the group, a wider group of resources within the country platforms and accounts and bring together the full EMEA technical network.

The ideal candidate is a strong engineering operations leader, able to influence account technical FM delivery and drive key engineering initiatives such as incident response, root cause analysis, technical business cases and deep dive into specific technical workstreams. A technical SME with deep experience in areas such as (but not limited to) reliability engineering, HV/LV, BMS, Pressure, Confined space, Mechanical, HVAC, maintenance services and engineering toolkits within the FM environment. It is expected that their technical expertise is broad, covering other technical areas such as such data analytics, Technology, BIM, intelligent buildings, ESG, and integrated control systems. The engineering and technical services team is a key function to the business, ensuring operational excellence and efficiency, exemplary health and safety standards and representing a major differentiator for CBRE in EMEA.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead and manage the EMEA Technical team, including the technical network.
  • Manage Technical Appointments for UK&I (primarily) and oversee EMEA.
  • Support technical talent development, including apprenticeship and training programmes.
  • Attract, retain, train talent.
  • Work with country team to establish and maintain a framework for technical competence across the EMEA workforce (tools, training, audits).
  • Fulfil Country SLA for Technical function within budget (support to the business for EMEA accounts).

Technical Support & Operational Excellence

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for operational technical support and engineering advice to accounts, aligned with specific global sectors.
  • Lead the implementation of initiatives from the Engineering & Technical Excellence global programme across EMEA.
  • Coordinate technical input for new account transitions, site technical reviews (including peer reviews and due diligence), and mobilisations.
  • Lead technical input for contract renewals and service expansions.
  • Governance for ‘in-country’ technical compliance rules and regulations.

Technical Excellence: EMEA County Operations

  • Liaise with intercompany Technical Leadership to ensure alignment on business activities.
  • Liaise with country leadership for technical leadership.
  • Provide a framework of technical competence for the EMEA technical workforce; with tools, training, audits. This is to attract, retain, promote and support the workforce.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Building Services or a related field of technical services. Or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Excellent leadership skills to hold matrix teams to account and own delivery.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong credibility in delivering Engineering Services, technical delivery of maintenance and management of technical programmes.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard reliability engineering tools and technologies.
  • Management of Risks associated with operating and maintaining critical systems in buildings.
  • Deep experience with Engineering Services and hard services delivery.
  • Detailed knowledge in the FM operations of engineers and technicians to deliver services.
  • Experience working in a global organisation with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from different regions and cultures.
