Package: Base Circa £125k - £140k + Comprehensive Benefits
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Location: Yorkshire
Role Purpose
As the organisation’s most senior technology professional, the Technology Director provides clear leadership across the full technology landscape, shaping a forward-looking strategy that enables sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and an exceptional experience for both colleagues and customers. The role carries end-to-end responsibility for the organisation’s technology capability, including Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, enterprise applications, IT infrastructure and service delivery, cyber security, data and integration, strategic technology partners, and digitally enabled business transformation.
Balancing long-term strategic vision with operational ownership, the Technology Director ensures technology investments, services, and capabilities remain secure, resilient, commercially focused, and closely aligned with the organisation’s wider business priorities. While the Technology Director will operate at a senior leadership level, they will maintain a strong understanding of the technology landscape and provide direct input where it matters most, from high-impact decisions and complex escalations to the management of critical incidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute a business-focused technology strategy, roadmap, and operating model, ensuring priorities, investment, and delivery support organisational growth and operational performance.
- Provide strategic technology advice to the Executive Leadership Team, balancing investment opportunities, emerging technologies, commercial priorities, and risk, while establishing clear governance, budgets, and performance measures.
- Set the strategic direction for Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and the wider application landscape, leading technology-enabled change, and ensuring successful adoption, integration, and realisation of business benefits.
- Ensure secure, resilient, and cost-effective technology services across all locations, covering infrastructure, end-user services, devices, Microsoft 365, identity, and access management.
- Lead the organisation’s approach to cyber security, resilience, continuity, disaster recovery, and technology risk, providing decisive leadership during major incidents and driving lasting improvements.
- Establish a clear approach to data and integration, improving data quality, ownership, and accessibility while enabling reliable reporting and meaningful management insight through Power BI and other approved technologies.
- Own the technology budget, investment cases, and strategic supplier relationships, ensuring strong commercial control, measurable service performance, and value from technology expenditure.
- Build a high-performing, accountable technology function with clear ownership, strong leadership, and sustainable internal capability, reducing unnecessary reliance on external consultants.
- Develop trusted relationships with operational and functional leaders, ensuring technology decisions are grounded in business priorities and deliver tangible value across the organisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

IT services will become more dependable, secure, and responsive, with a continued focus on enhancing the experience of colleagues and customers. The role will also strengthen cyber security, business continuity, and overall technology risk management, while improving the quality, accessibility, and integration of organisational data to support better decision-making. In parallel, effective supplier management and team development will ensure the organisation has the commercial relationships, service standards, and internal capability required to support its future ambitions.
