Director – Technology Modernisation - Financial Services Consulting
Salary: £180,000 - £235,000 + 30-40% bonus
London based - hybrid working (3 days a week)
Overview
A leading global advisory firm is seeking a Director with strong technical credibility, commercial acumen, and a proven track record of delivering large-scale technology and business transformation programmes. The role is suited to professionals who combine blue-chip consulting and industry experience, can influence senior stakeholders, and build trusted client relationships across the Financial Services Sector.
This position focuses on helping organisations maximise business value from technology investments through strategy development, transformation execution, operational improvement, and value creation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Client Delivery
- Lead complex technology transformation engagements from strategy through execution.
- Manage small, high-performing consulting teams and collaborate closely with senior client stakeholders.

Provide expertise across:
- Technology strategy and operating model design.
- Technology due diligence and assessments.
- IT cost optimisation and cost reduction programmes.
- Architecture strategy and technology roadmaps.
- Outsourcing and vendor management.
- Large-scale programme recovery and turnaround.
- Carve-outs, mergers, and integration initiatives.
- Governance and capability development.
Business Development
- Build and maintain senior executive relationships.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Contribute to thought leadership, market visibility, and service development.
- Support proposal development and commercial discussions.
Internal Leadership
- Develop intellectual property, methodologies, and consulting assets.
- Mentor and support colleagues across project teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing.

Candidate Profile
Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or Master's degree advantageous.
- Combination of blue-chip consulting and industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading technology-enabled business transformation programmes.
- Strong background in at least two of the following areas:
- IT strategy
- IT cost optimisation
- Software delivery
- Infrastructure and operations
- Enterprise architecture
- Governance
- Project and programme management
- Target operating model design
- Industry experience in either Retail or Financial services
- Excellent executive communication and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modelling capabilities.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives.
- Strong commercial awareness and client relationship management skills.
- Passion for technology, digital innovation, and emerging industry trends.
