Director, Technology Strategy & Transformation
Salary: £95,000–£105,000
Working pattern: Remote - international candidates considered
Contract: Permanent
Travel: Approximately 5–10% international
Remit: Global
The Opportunity
This is a senior technology leadership role within a complex international organisation undergoing significant evolution across its global technology platforms.
The Director of Technology Strategy & Transformation will sit at the centre of technology decision-making, combining architecture, transformation, data platforms, and practical technology roadmapping.
The role is suited to someone who can operate strategically without becoming detached from delivery.
You will need to understand complex technology environments, make credible architecture decisions, challenge constructively, prioritise within financial constraints, and lead a large, distributed technical function.
This is not a traditional programme-management role and it is not a purely back-office enterprise architecture position.
The Role
You will provide leadership across four connected areas:
Technology Strategy and Roadmaps
You will help shape practical 1–3 year roadmaps for major platforms and technology capabilities.
This will include:
- Identifying future requirements
- Prioritising investment
- Sequencing technology change
- Working with business and technology stakeholders
- Understanding vendor direction
- Balancing longer-term goals with immediate delivery priorities
Architecture and Solutioning
You will provide senior ownership of technology solutioning and architecture.
You will:
- Assess technical options
- Define appropriate architecture direction
- Encourage standardisation
- Protect core platforms from unnecessary bespoke change
- Identify where compromise is appropriate
- Ensure short-term delivery decisions do not undermine longer-term technology goals
The environment values pragmatic architecture rather than bureaucracy or methodology for its own sake.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Transformation
You will play a central role in major technology-enabled transformation.
You will help define:
- The technology solution
- IT responsibilities
- Resource requirements
- Budget requirements
- Architecture implications
- Delivery readiness
You will work closely with transformation teams but will not act as the overall programme manager.
Data, Reporting and Integrations
You will lead teams responsible for core data-platform engineering, reporting, and integrations.
You do not need to be the deepest technical specialist in every area, but you must be technically credible and willing to get beneath the surface of unfamiliar issues when important decisions need to be made.
Leadership Scope
You will lead approximately 15 direct reports and a wider function of around 30 people across architecture, data, BI, integrations, and transformation-related technology capability.
The team is internationally distributed.
A significant part of the opportunity is helping the organisation ensure that its technology capability and structure remain fit for the next phase of change.
The Strongest Candidates Will Bring:
- Broad senior technology leadership experience
- Strong enterprise and/or solution architecture judgement
- Experience of major technology-enabled change
- Experience developing technology or product roadmaps
- Understanding of modern data platforms, data warehousing, and integrations
- Experience leading senior technical teams
- Strong commercial and financial judgement
- Confidence operating with senior stakeholders
- The ability to challenge constructively
- Experience navigating ambiguity, competing priorities, and constrained resources
You will be comfortable saying:
- This is the right solution
- This is not the right solution
- This should happen later
- This needs simplifying
- This should remain standard rather than bespoke
