Director or Managing Director | Private Equity Sponsor Coverage | London
A leading international bank is seeking a Director or Managing Director to join its growing Sponsor Coverage team in London.
This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role within an entrepreneurial and rapidly expanding franchise, working directly with senior leadership to deepen relationships with some of the world's largest private equity firms while driving origination and revenue growth across a broad suite of financing and capital solutions.
The successful candidate will bring a strong network within the sponsor community, a proven ability to originate opportunities, and the commercial judgement to identify transactions before they become widely marketed.
The Opportunity
The team is focused on becoming a primary strategic partner to financial sponsors, engaging earlier in the investment cycle and delivering solutions across a diversified product platform.
Unlike traditional sponsor coverage roles that are closely aligned to a single product, this position offers exposure to a broad range of financing capabilities, including:
- Leveraged Finance
- Direct Lending
- NAV Financing
- Fund Finance
- Margin Lending
- Working Capital Solutions
- Structured and Asset-Backed Financing
- Capital Markets Solutions

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage relationships with leading European and global private equity sponsors.
- Originate new business opportunities across multiple financing products and solutions.
- Act as a trusted advisor to sponsor clients and their portfolio companies.
- Drive revenue generation through proactive client coverage and cross-selling initiatives.
- Partner closely with product specialists to deliver bespoke financing structures.
- Identify opportunities ahead of formal financing processes and create differentiated market access.
- Build strategic account plans and deepen engagement with key sponsor relationships.
- Collaborate with industry coverage teams to support sponsor-backed businesses across sectors.
- Monitor market developments, M&A activity and sponsor trends to identify new opportunities.
- Contribute to the continued development and growth of the wider sponsor coverage franchise.
Candidate Profile
- Significant experience within Financial Sponsors Coverage or Leveraged Finance.
- Strong understanding of private equity investment strategies and acquisition financing.
- Proven track record of originating and executing transactions with sponsor clients.
- Existing relationships across large-cap private equity firms.
- Demonstrable ability to generate opportunities rather than solely execute transactions.
- Strong commercial instinct and deal judgement.
- Credibility with senior investment professionals and decision-makers.
- Ability to operate independently while coordinating effectively across product and coverage teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a franchise-building mentality.
