About Devex
Devex is the independent news organization serving the global development community. Every day we connect the world’s leading development professionals with the news, events, and analysis shaping global progress.
Our Special Coverage team works with many of the world’s leading foundations, NGOs, multilaterals, companies, and philanthropies to create editorial partnerships that inform, convene, and inspire the global development community.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced editorial leader to join our Special Coverage team as a Director, Partnerships Editorial. This is a senior strategic role responsible for developing and delivering high-impact editorial partnerships across live events, multimedia content, sponsored journalism, podcasts, newsletters, and integrated campaigns.
You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to some of Devex’s largest partners, helping shape ambitious editorial agendas that advance important conversations while ensuring every project reflects Devex’s standards for quality, independence, and audience value.
Internally, you’ll work across editorial, business development, production, marketing, audience engagement, and design teams to lead complex projects from concept through execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior editorial lead and trusted advisor across a portfolio of complex, high-profile partnerships — spanning live events, multimedia storytelling, sponsored content, newsletters, and podcasts — and drive them from kickoff through delivery.
- Translate partner objectives into compelling, executable editorial products, shaping agendas that are timely, news-driven, audience-focused, and capable of generating headlines within the global development community.
- Produce and edit sponsored content end to end, including feature stories, Q&As, opinion pieces, visual storytelling, and podcasts, ensuring every product meets Devex’s standards for quality, accuracy, and editorial integrity.
- Identify and recruit key voices and influencers — from government, philanthropy, multilateral institutions, civil society, academia, and the private sector — to serve as speakers, moderators, and interview subjects.
- Source, commission, and manage freelance reporters, writers, and storytellers to produce high-quality multimedia content.
- Conduct interviews and moderate virtual and live events with senior global leaders when appropriate.
- Manage timelines, deliverables, budgets, and editorial priorities across multiple concurrent projects, coordinating production, marketing, design, audience engagement, and newsroom teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior client stakeholders, confidently navigating complex editorial discussions through to resolution.
- Measure partnership success through performance reporting and audience insights, and turn those into recommendations that strengthen long-term relationships.
- Stay ahead of developments across global development, climate, health, humanitarian response, finance, technology, and international affairs to keep programming relevant and agenda-setting.
- Champion the use of AI and emerging technologies to improve editorial quality, efficiency, research, and workflow management.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
