Overview
Mastercard Identity, within the Security Solutions organization, develops innovative products and services that enable trusted digital interactions across commerce, payments, financial services, government, and emerging digital ecosystems.
We are seeking a Director, Product Development, to help shape and deliver the next generation of Mastercard's Digital Identity solutions. This individual will be responsible for identifying market opportunities, defining product requirements, influencing product strategy, and driving execution across a rapidly evolving digital identity landscape. The role requires a deep understanding of digital identity technologies, ecosystem dynamics, emerging industry standards, and customer needs.
The successful candidate will work across a highly matrixed global organization and serve as a trusted thought partner to engineering, commercialization, legal, security, regional, and executive stakeholders. Expertise in merchant-facing, acceptance, authentication, commerce, or customer journey-related products is highly desirable. Candidates who can think across issuer, merchant, identity, authentication, wallet, and trust ecosystems will be particularly successful in this role.
Role
Product Strategy & Development
- Identify emerging customer needs, market opportunities, and industry trends that can shape future product investments.
- Develop business cases and strategic recommendations supporting product growth and innovation.
- Drive delivery of product initiatives from concept through launch and market adoption.
- Identity solutions and related product features, prioritize roadmap, and work within the organization to align to business problems.
- Partner closely with engineering and platform teams to ensure successful execution of product priorities.
- Identity build, buy, partner needs, working with external solutions and technology partners where and when needed.
- Support commercialization activities, market expansion initiatives, pilot programs, and customer engagements.

Digital Identity Subject Matter Expertise
- Serve as an expert in digital identity and trusted digital interactions.
- Maintain deep knowledge of digital identity technologies, credential ecosystems, trust frameworks, digital wallets, authentication, authorization, and identity verification capabilities.
- Understand developments across standards bodies, industry alliances, technology providers, competitors, and emerging market models.
- Evaluate industry developments and their potential impact on Mastercard's product strategy, customer opportunities, and long-term positioning.
- Support internal thought leadership on the evolution of digital identity and trust ecosystems.
Ecosystem & Industry Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, technology providers, industry groups, standards organizations, and other key stakeholders.
- Engage with the broader digital identity community to understand market needs, technology trends, and emerging opportunities.
- Assess partnership opportunities and ecosystem developments that could accelerate product growth and innovation.
- Represent Mastercard in relevant industry discussions, working groups, conferences, and external engagements as appropriate.
Product Performance & Market Success
- Define and monitor key performance indicators, adoption metrics, customer outcomes, and product success measures.
- Gather customer feedback, market insights, and competitive intelligence to inform roadmap evolution.
- Develop recommendations to improve product performance, customer adoption, and commercial outcomes.
- Support investment decisions and prioritization discussions through data-driven analysis and business case development.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Lead complex initiatives across multiple functions and stakeholder groups.
- Influence decision-making without direct authority in a highly matrixed environment.
- Build alignment among engineering, commercialization, legal, compliance, security, privacy, regional, and executive stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with technical, business, and executive audiences.
- Drive clarity and execution in ambiguous and rapidly evolving market environments.
All About You
Required Experience
- Significant experience in Product Management, Product Development, or related disciplines.
- Experience working within digital identity, authentication, cybersecurity, payments, fintech, digital trust, fraud, or adjacent technology sectors.
- Demonstrated success defining business requirements, and roadmap priorities.
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders and leading cross-functional initiatives without direct authority.
- Strong commercial mindset with experience evaluating market opportunities and customer needs.
- Comfortable operating in global and highly matrixed organizations.

- Ability to think across the broader ecosystem, including issuers, merchants, financial institutions, digital wallets, trust service providers, and identity providers.
- Demonstrated ability to translate industry expertise and emerging market trends into scalable products and solutions within complex, highly matrixed organizations.
- Understanding privacy, security, and regulatory considerations that influence digital identity solutions globally.

Education
- Bachelor's degree, or significant related industry experience, is required.
- Advanced degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
