Telford & Wrekin Council,

The Role

Reporting into the Executive Director, you will lead a broad and high-profile portfolio spanning regeneration, property services, planning and development management, building control, economic development, inward investment, the visitor economy, strategic planning, NuPlace, and the Homes England Land Deal. This is a role with significant influence across the organisation and a direct impact on the future prosperity of the borough.

The scale of opportunity is substantial. You'll provide leadership across a diverse programme of major capital projects, including town centre regeneration schemes, Station Quarter redevelopment, Wellington Market, the theatre and leisure centre projects, while ensuring momentum is maintained across an ambitious programme of investment and growth. At the same time, you will oversee a commercial estate generating around £10m of income annually, balancing investment in existing assets with opportunities for future growth.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
