Director – Restructuring Advisory

Location: Manchester | Hybrid

Level: Director / Senior Manager ready to step up

Sector: Restructuring & Turnaround Advisory

Package: Highly competitive + benefits

GMP Recruitment is partnering with a leading international advisory firm to appoint a Director within its growing Restructuring Advisory practice in Manchester.

This is a senior, commercially focused appointment offering the opportunity to take a leading role in complex restructuring and turnaround assignments across the UK.

The successful individual will work with corporates, lenders, financial sponsors, and other stakeholders in stressed and distressed situations, with a particular emphasis on non-formal restructuring and advisory work rather than purely formal insolvency appointments.

The Role

You will take ownership of restructuring engagements from the initial client conversation through to delivery and final review, working closely with senior leadership while managing and developing more junior members of the team.

Assignments will include:

  • Independent Business Reviews (IBRs)
  • Short-term cash-flow modelling and liquidity reviews
  • Integrated financial forecasting
  • Pre-lending and viability reviews
  • Strategic and restructuring options reviews
  • Contingency planning
  • Debt refinancing and lender negotiations
  • Stakeholder management
  • HMRC Time to Pay arrangements
  • Accelerated M&A
  • Wider turnaround and restructuring advisory assignments

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Alongside delivery, this is a genuinely commercial role.

You will build relationships across the regional market, develop your own professional network, and play an active part in winning new mandates. This will include contributing to pitches, tenders, and lender panels as well as developing relationships with lenders, lawyers, investors, and the wider professional-services community.

Experience within a leading accountancy, restructuring, or advisory firm would be particularly relevant. An insolvency qualification or formal insolvency experience would be advantageous, but the emphasis of this appointment is firmly on advisory, restructuring, and turnaround capability.

Why Consider It?

This is an opportunity to join an established international advisory platform while playing a significant role in the continued development of its Manchester and wider UK Restructuring offering.

For somebody already established at Senior Manager or Associate Director level, there is an opportunity to step into a role offering considerably greater ownership, visibility, and influence.

For an existing Director, it offers a strong platform from which to originate work, lead complex mandates, and further develop a profile within the UK restructuring market.

All enquiries will be handled in the strictest confidence.
