Job Title: Director, Strategic Communications
Reporting to: Partners
Job Purpose:
Schillings are looking for an experienced Director to join our Strategic Communications business, adding breadth and depth to our multidisciplinary skillset. Schillings Communications provides senior counsel during high-stakes situations, rather than steady-state PR. Under the guidance of the Partners leading the practice, you will work collaboratively with experts across Schillings to proactively devise and execute communications strategies that protect our clients’ reputations and enable clients to deliver their objectives.
The Schillings Communications business, established in 2023, is on a trajectory from start-up to critical mass, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the practice from day one. You will work alongside our digital resilience, legal, intelligence, investigations, and security practices to offer clients world-class counsel, using your skills in a uniquely collaborative environment to provide holistic solutions to complex client needs.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
