Director, Service Engineering – High Growth UPS / Critical Power Scale-Up
UK | Hybrid / National Remit
We are supporting a High-Growth Critical Power Technology business that is expanding its UK operation.
The company provides UPS systems, critical power infrastructure and associated service solutions to customers operating in environments where resilience and uptime are essential, including data centres, healthcare, industrial, infrastructure and mission-critical facilities.
Following continued investment and growth, they are looking to appoint a Director, Service Engineering to lead and scale the engineering service function.
This is a Senior Operational Leadership role with responsibility for field engineering, service delivery, technical standards and the continued development of a high-performing national service organisation.
The role
You will take overall responsibility for the service engineering function, working closely with the senior leadership team to improve operational performance, customer experience and engineering capability.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading a national team of field service engineers and technical service managers.
- Owning service delivery across UPS and critical power systems.
- Developing the structure, processes and capability of the service organisation as the business grows.
- Improving engineering utilisation, response times, first-time fix rates and customer satisfaction.
- Ensuring consistent technical standards across installation, commissioning, maintenance and breakdown support.
- Supporting customers operating within mission-critical environments.
- Developing preventative maintenance and lifecycle service strategies.
- Working closely with sales, operations, project delivery and technical teams.
- Supporting the development of service contracts, SLA structures and aftermarket revenue.
- Ensuring engineering teams operate safely and in line with relevant technical and regulatory standards.
- Building succession plans and developing future engineering leaders.
- Supporting recruitment as the field engineering organisation expands.
- Providing technical and operational input into wider UK and European growth plans.

What we're looking for
We are interested in speaking with senior service and engineering leaders from the UPS, critical power, data centre infrastructure, power electronics or electrical engineering markets.
You are likely to have:
- Strong experience within UPS systems, critical power or closely related electrical infrastructure.
- Experience leading geographically dispersed field engineering teams.
- A strong understanding of planned maintenance, emergency response, commissioning and technical service delivery.
- Experience managing service KPIs, engineer utilisation and operational performance.
- A strong customer focus, particularly within mission-critical environments.
- Experience developing service processes and engineering standards.
- Strong commercial awareness around service contracts and aftermarket revenue.
- Experience building or scaling engineering teams.
- The ability to operate strategically while remaining close to day-to-day service performance.

Experience within a high-growth, PE-backed, privately owned or entrepreneurial engineering business would be particularly relevant.
