Job Title: Director Strategic Debt Finance Asset Management
Location: London, Birmingham, Edinburgh or Manchester
Hours: Full-time
Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites. Colleagues with disabilities can be supported with workplace adjustments including hybrid working expectations in line with our Flexibility Works policy.
What you'll be doing:
This is an exciting opportunity to join Strategic Debt Finance Asset Management (SDF AM), a specialist team responsible for managing a £3bn portfolio of highly leveraged and private equity-backed clients across a diverse range of sectors.
As a Director, you'll lead a portfolio of complex client relationships, balancing risk management with the identification of opportunities to improve portfolio returns. You'll assess the sustainability of businesses, analyse cash flows and market dynamics, and provide insight that supports high-quality credit and investment decisions.
- Working closely with Coverage, Strategic Debt Finance Origination, Leveraged & Structured Credit and Portfolio Management teams, you'll take the lead on annual credit reviews, lending requests and complex credit events, including covenant amendments, incremental facilities, bolt-on acquisitions and refinancing activity.
- You'll also present recommendations to senior stakeholders and risk forums, often within demanding timeframes.
- Beyond portfolio management, you'll play a key leadership role within the team. You'll coach and develop colleagues, lead strategic projects, contribute to portfolio reporting and build strong relationships with financial sponsors, advisers and banking partners.
- This is a highly visible role offering significant exposure across the Bank and the opportunity to shape outcomes for some of our most complex corporate clients.

What we're looking for:
- 10 years' experience in leveraged finance, with knowledge of LMA loan documentation.
- Strong experience analysing and interpreting financial information, with the ability to present complex information clearly and succinctly.
- Leadership experience, including managing and developing high-performing teams and contributing to wider strategic or portfolio initiatives.
- Shown experience leading highly leveraged Corporate and/or Private Equity-backed portfolios, with exposure to sponsor-backed structures.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging with senior internal stakeholders, clients, sponsors and regulators (e.g. PRA).
- Strong credit assessment capability, including analysis of cash flow, business models and complex capital structures.
