Purpose of Job
The Director, SI PI is responsible for leading a team of bankers, engineers, project managers and technical cooperation (TC) grant managers that enables and amplifies the work of the Bank in the Sustainable Infrastructure sector. The SI PI team delivers three key functions in the sustainable infrastructure sector:
- Managing the Bank’s portfolio of debt investments
- Sourcing, managing and reporting on the use of donor funds for the Bank’s activities, in close cooperation with the Bank’s Donor Partnerships team
- Providing technical and engineering advice and support in the design and implementation of the Bank’s activities
The remit of the SI PI team’s work includes the power, energy, transport, social infrastructure and municipal sectors.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Process and Business Delivery
- Accountable for the team’s delivery and fulfilment of quantitative and qualitative objectives of the annual scorecard, these objectives support the annual objectives for the Business Group and the annual business plan of the Bank.
- Provide strategic direction of activities across all three units of SI PI (Portfolio, Project Preparation and Implementation and TC Grants) to support SIG’s strategic objectives.
- Accountable for the delivery of high quality technical and engineering input into both investment and policy dialogue in the sustainable infrastructure sector.
- Accountable for the sourcing, management and reporting on donor funds to support investment and policy dialogue in the sustainable infrastructure sector.
- Overall responsibility for monitoring and protecting the reputation, credit quality and impact of the Bank’s sustainable infrastructure loan portfolio.
- Providing general support to SIG and Bank management on sectoral issues and data management for the group as a whole.
- Responsible for supervision the team’s budget and other non-staff resources in coordination with relevant departments.
- Accountable for the engagement and effective overall management of the team including recruitment, compensation, performance management, coaching and development.
- Champion and role model the Bank’s Behavioural Competencies and Corporate Behaviours.
- Play a key role as part of the SIG senior leadership group.

Qualifications & Skills / Experience & Knowledge
- Relevant university degree, or equivalent professional experience.
- Deep sector-knowledge of sustainable infrastructure sector developed over significant years within the industry.
- Understanding of and significant experience in the origination, structuring and implementation of various debt instruments.
- Understanding and significant experience of the Bank’s reform and impact agenda.
- Familiarity with a wide range of the Bank’s policies and procedures.
- Strong relationship skills and demonstrated ability to build consensus and work with a wide range of counterparts.
- A mix of public sector, consulting, and/or private sector experience.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate team performance through a people centred approach to management.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
