About AstraZeneca
AstraZeneca is a global, science-led, patient-focused biopharmaceutical company that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialisation of prescription medicines for some of the world’s most serious diseases. But we’re more than one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies. At AstraZeneca, we are pioneering new frontiers by identifying and treating patients earlier, working towards the aim of eliminating cancer as a cause of death.
Come and join our AZ team where you will play a pivotal role in this exciting period of development!!
This role sits at that intersection. You'll own AstraZeneca's clinical technology vendor partnerships — the strategy, the governance, and the relationships. But equally, you'll be the bridge between our technology providers and our business — translating clinical needs into vendor solutions, and vendor capabilities into business value. Making sure both sides speak the same language and pull in the same direction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Owning key technology vendor relationships — IRT, eCOA, medical imaging, and similar platforms — across strategy, governance, performance, and risk.
- Defining vendor strategy — the right partners, the right sourcing models, aligned to AstraZeneca's clinical and R&D goals.
- Designing and implementing governance frameworks that work in practice — structures, escalation pathways, and metrics that keep alliances accountable.
- Acting as the strategic bridge between technology providers and AstraZeneca's business — ensuring vendors understand our priorities and that internal teams fully leverage what the technology delivers.
- Translating business requirements into clear vendor expectations — and bringing vendor innovation and roadmaps back into the business as tangible opportunities.
- Monitoring performance, driving continuous improvement, and integrating lessons learned across the portfolio.
- Leading governance forums where issues get resolved and decisions get made.
- Managing risks proactively — being the steady hand when things get complicated.
- Coaching and supporting junior members of the alliance management team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
