I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The client genuinely wants ambitious people to succeed. Rather than being constrained by layers above you, this is an environment where your ability to originate, grow relationships and generate revenue can translate into greater responsibility and career progression.

For someone who is already commercially successful but feels their route forward is restricted by the structure above them, this offers the opportunity to join a platform where growth, origination and contribution to the business can create genuine career progression.

What we are looking for:

  • Strong Transaction / Accounting Advisory experience
  • Established relationships across Private Equity sponsors and portfolio companies
  • A proven ability to personally originate £1m+ of annual advisory revenue
  • Strong technical accounting expertise across IFRS and/or US GAAP
  • Experience across M&A, acquisition accounting, PPA, carve-outs and post-deal integration
  • ACA, CA, ACCA or equivalent
  • The ambition and commercial ability to build a significant book of business

Why consider it?

If you're performing, originating work and bringing relationships into your current firm but not seeing the progression that should come with it, this could provide a very different opportunity. The client wants someone who can help grow the practice, develop their own market presence, build revenue and take on increasing leadership responsibility as the platform develops. This is not simply a technical delivery role. Commercial capability, PE relationships and the ability to win work are central to the appointment.
