Director - Transaction Services

A leading UK accountancy and business advisory group is looking to hire at Director level into its Transaction Services practice, based in Manchester. This is a senior hire within a fast-growing, PE-backed group, advising clients on financial due diligence and transaction services assignments across the mid-market.

The Role

You will take a strategic leadership role, managing a substantial portfolio of work and driving significant commercial outcomes, leading high-value financial due diligence engagements and acting as senior point of contact on key client accounts.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will originate and develop fee-generating work through a network of referrers and clients, whilst balancing technical excellence with commercial acumen. You will combine senior technical advice and sound commercial judgement with strategic financial control across your portfolio, playing an active role in shaping service line strategy, whilst mentoring and developing senior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage financial due diligence and transaction services assignments, acting as senior point of contact on strategic accounts.
  • Originate and develop substantial fee-generating work, bringing in significant mandates from a network of referrers and clients.
  • Manage strategic financial control across your portfolio, and deployment of team resources.
  • Mentor and develop senior staff, fostering technical growth and an inclusive, high-performing culture.
  • Contribute to service line strategy and innovation, and build strong external relationships through key networks.

Candidate Profile

  • ACA or ACCA qualified, currently at Director, Associate Director or Senior Manager level in Transaction Services.
  • 5-10 years' Transaction Services experience within a Top 20 accountancy firm or a regional/boutique advisory business.
  • Proven track record of leading client relationships and driving revenue growth through business development, with the ability to originate new work and build strong external networks.
  • Commercially astute, strategic thinker, comfortable with fee responsibility and working with a high level of autonomy.
  • Confident people leader with proven experience developing and mentoring senior colleagues.
