About the Role
We are seeking a new Director with experience in CIC strategy and growth to work with our team of Directors, alongside our Advisory Board Members and Team Members to support our growth and expansion over the next 5 years.

As a Director with experience in strategy, growth and development you will help to strengthen the pillars that Trauma Recovery CIC is built on, thus securing its longevity as an organisation supporting people of all ages, genders and backgrounds who are recovering from trauma.
What Are We Looking For?
As a lived experience led organisation, it is desirable that our new Director has relevant direct lived experience, this is not essential however empathy and understanding of the impact that these experiences for people is essential.
Other Skills and Experience
Our ideal Director will have:
- Commitment to the aims, values, social purpose and community benefit objectives of Trauma Recovery CIC
- Understanding of the role, legal duties and responsibilities of a CIC Director, including acting in the best interests of the company and the community it serves
- Ability to contribute to strategic planning, sound governance and effective decision-making as part of a small board of Directors
- Ability to exercise independent judgement, maintain confidentiality and manage potential conflicts of interest appropriately
- Understanding of financial oversight, budgeting, sustainability and risk management within a small nonprofit or social enterprise setting
- Experience of leadership, governance, management, trusteeship, community leadership, lived expertise, project leadership, board membership or other relevant responsibility within a professional, voluntary or community setting.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen, challenge constructively, ask appropriate questions and work collaboratively with other Directors
- Understanding of trauma-informed, inclusive and safeguarding-aware practice, with a commitment to protecting the wellbeing and dignity of people using the service
- Knowledge of compliance requirements relevant to CICs, safeguarding, data protection, health and safety, employment responsibilities and regulatory reporting
- Ability to represent Trauma Recovery CIC professionally with partners, funders, stakeholders and the wider community
- Willingness and capacity to attend Directors’ meetings, review papers, contribute between meetings when needed and undertake the role on an unpaid basis
- Professional experience or community insight relevant to trauma recovery, domestic abuse, sexual violence, relational trauma or support services
- Good IT skills, including email, Microsoft Teams or Zoom, shared documents and secure handling of organisational information
- Enhanced DBS check registered with the live checking service and two satisfactory references, where required by organisational policy

What Will You Be Doing?
As a Director you will have an essential role in contributing towards the development of Trauma Recovery CIC and making a real difference to the lives of people who have experienced sexual, domestic and/or relational trauma.
We have recently restructured our leadership team which has led to the introduction of a voluntary Advisory Board who will use their expertise (both lived and professional) to advise the Directors and leaders.
Our new Director will work in a voluntary capacity and will be registered as a person with significant control, thus using both their lived and professional experience in strategy and development to support the organisations growth, development and financial stability.
Our board has a close relationship with our leadership team and our organisation is lived experience led, our services are co-produced with those who access them. For this reason, we are looking for a Director with experience of working within a non profit CIC, preferably with lived experience of sexual, domestic and/or relational trauma or with professional experience in this area.
