Lead Services That Change Lives

Are you an experienced housing professional with a passion for improving the lives of disabled and vulnerable residents? Do you have the leadership skills to drive service excellence, manage complex programmes, and deliver meaningful outcomes for communities?

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is seeking an ambitious and highly motivated Disability and Home Improvement Service Manager to lead a diverse and impactful service that enables residents to live independently, safely and with dignity.

About The Role

Reporting to the Head of Housing Inclusion and Support Services, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of approximately 50 staff and oversee a broad portfolio of services, including: major disabled adaptations, private sector home improvement agency services, private sector renewal, handyperson services, private sector empty properties and the housing occupational therapy service. You will be responsible for developing strategy, shaping policy, managing significant budgets of approximately £8 million, overseeing contract and programme delivery, and ensuring the Council continues to meet its statutory responsibilities while delivering excellent customer outcomes.

What You'll Bring

We are looking for a proven leader with:

  • Significant experience managing customer-focused housing, adaptation, or home improvement services.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.

  • Experience managing complex budgets, contracts, and performance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to work strategically while maintaining a strong focus on service delivery and resident outcomes.
  • A commitment to equality, inclusion, and delivering outstanding customer service.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
