Description

Make your expertise count. Change lives. Shape a team.

Thompsons Solicitors is expanding our respected Industrial Disease team in Leeds, Birmingham, Newcastle, Bristol and the North West — and we’re looking for a Senior Lawyer who’s ready to make a real impact on both clients and colleagues.

Our team represents individuals affected by serious occupational illnesses, including NIHL, HAVS, occupational asthma, WRULD, stress-related conditions and other complex disease claims. Many clients are navigating life‑changing circumstances, and we’re proud to deliver a service that is both technically excellent and deeply human.

The role...

You’ll manage a varied, high‑value Multi Track caseload from initial instruction through to trial, developing strategy, investigating complex evidence and litigating confidently.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

While this isn’t a formal line management role, your expertise, mentorship and collaborative style will help others grow — and strengthen the team as a whole.

What You’ll Bring

We’re keen to hear from qualified lawyers with:

  • A solid track record of handling industrial disease claims (NIHL, HAVS, asthma, WRULD, stress or similar)
  • Strong experience in Multi Track litigation, including costs, funding and complex case handling
  • The ability to supervise, guide and develop colleagues in a supportive, constructive way
  • A compassionate, client‑centred approach when dealing with sensitive and often challenging situations
