Dispatch Manager: Band 6
Base: Medway MRC - East EOC
Hours: Full-time/Part Time
Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 per annum Plus Unsocial hours enhancements
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Dispatch Managers to lead the day-to-day operation of the Trust's Dispatch Function within the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC). This key leadership role ensures the safe, timely and effective deployment of emergency resources, directly supporting high-quality patient care and service delivery.
Working closely with the EOC Manager and Service Delivery Manager, you will lead Senior Resource Dispatchers, Resource Dispatchers and Dispatch Support Assistants, fostering a positive, inclusive culture where colleagues are supported and empowered to succeed.
You will oversee a safe, efficient and resilient Dispatch operation, ensuring resources are deployed in line with best practice and standard operating procedures. Responsibilities include performance monitoring, workforce planning, staff development and driving continuous improvement.
As part of the wider EOC management team, you will contribute to service developments and Trust-wide projects that enhance operational effectiveness.
The Dispatch Function is central to managing emergency and non-emergency demand, coordinating resources and working collaboratively with clinical, call handling and operational teams to deliver the right response, at the right time, for every patient.

Main duties of the job
As Dispatch Manager, you will lead the Trust’s Dispatch Function, ensuring high standards of patient safety, operational performance and service delivery. You will manage and develop Senior Resource Dispatchers, Resource Dispatchers and Dispatch Support Assistants, fostering a positive, inclusive culture where colleagues are supported and empowered to perform at their best.
You will hold line management responsibility for recruitment, induction, performance management, staff development and employee relations, using coaching and feedback to drive individual and team success. You will support Senior Resource Dispatchers in their management responsibilities and promote a culture of accountability, openness and continuous improvement.
The role includes leading projects, supporting service developments, performance reporting, workforce planning and risk management, while building effective relationships with operational teams, NHS partners and emergency service colleagues.
This is a fast-paced leadership role requiring excellent communication, sound judgement and the ability to deliver safe, effective responses for patients in a 24/7 operational environment.

Other than in exceptional circumstances, the starting salary for staff new to the NHS will be the bottom point of the band to which they have been appointed.
Please note that the salary range noted on the vacancy is in line with agenda for change (AFC) pay scales. All successful applicants would be placed automatically at the bottom of the banding, unless proven, relevant NHS or equivalent experience can be demonstrated.
Following the revision of current national legislation (Vaccine as a Condition of Deployment), the Trust has reviewed our requirements relating to staff uptake of the SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19) vaccination.
Going forward, for patient facing positions, we strongly recommend that new starters will be appropriately vaccinated unless medically exempt in order to offer greater protection against exposure to the virus for front line staff.
In line with this recommendation, if you are successful in your application for a front line post, we will seek information from you in relation to your vaccine status, including exemption status, as applicable.
Please note, all positions come with a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check relevant to the post. This will either be a basic, standard, or enhanced check depending on the role. The level of check will be outlined in the conditional offer letter sent to successful applicants.
