FULL TIME - Shift Working (relief)
Exciting opportunities have arisen for dispatchers within our West Ambulance Control Centre in Cardonald, Glasgow. Full time and part-time contracts are available.
About the Role
The West Ambulance Control Centre (ACC) covers an extensive operational area including both high population and remote and rural areas. The role of the ACC dispatcher is demanding and the ability to work as part of a dedicated team is essential to provide 24hr Accident and Emergency cover to the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate clear evidence of accuracy and compliance with system protocols and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Demonstrate an ability to work effectively under pressure and with minimal supervision.
- Dispatch Ambulances to emergency/urgent calls, ensuring optimum use of resources in accordance with Service quality standards and deployment strategies.
Shift Working Details
- As a relief worker, you will have no fixed working pattern, instead getting shifts 4 weeks in advance helping to ensure that staffing remains at the required level.
- Candidates will need to be prepared to work 12-hour shifts.

Training and Mentorship
- Candidates will be required to travel to attend a 2-week (Internal candidates) or 3-week (external candidates) training course for this role.
- After training, you will be placed through a up to 8-week mentorship within the Ambulance Control Centre.
