Dispensary Operative Position – Join Our Team!

Role Overview

A Dispensary Operative plays a key role in the efficient and compliant operation of the dispensary, ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, picking, packing and dispensing of veterinary medicines and products. Maintains stock accuracy, supports inventory control, and adheres to all RCVS and VMD regulations and resolves dispensary queries promptly, ensure timely medication supply to support high standards of patient care. Maintains a safe, organised and hygienic working environment while delivering excellent attention to detail and operational efficiency.

Hours Available

  • Monday – Friday (40 hours per week): 8am – 16:30 with weekend availability

Key Responsibilities

  • Picking and packing customer dispensary orders
  • Despatching Orders
  • Staking/checking
  • Inventor tasks
  • Taking delivery of stock and supplies
  • Checking for damaged or missing items
  • Receiving stock and locating to suitable locations
  • Keeping all paperwork up to date
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Awareness of new medications and changes made by the VMD.
  • MHE Operation
  • Maintaining Dispensary machinery
  • Checking all orders for damage or missing items before dispatch
  • Receiving stock and supplies
  • Housekeeping duties
  • Preparing pallets for dispatch
  • Picking and packing customer orders
  • Cleaning as you go.

Qualifications And Skills

The role requires attention to detail, the ability to follow safety procedures, and a strong work ethic, using equipment such as, pallet trucks, and barcode scanners, ensuring that goods are delivered to the correct location in a timely and accurate manner.

The job holder will conform to the Quality Management System operated within CVS Group plc for the Good Distribution Practice of licensed or unlicensed veterinary medicines to ensure that all applicable laws and guidance are reflected in our processes and procedures.

  • Demonstratable Dispensary experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy, computer literate.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail
