Dispensing Optician Job – Kidderminster, Worcestershire

Salary: £30,000 - £34,000 Pro Rata + Bonus
Hours: 3, 4 or 5 Days per Week | Alternate Saturdays | No Sundays or Bank Holidays
Location: Kidderminster, Worcestershire

Zest Optical are working alongside a well-established independent Opticians in Kidderminster to recruit a GOC registered Dispensing Optician.

This Dispensing Optician job in Kidderminster has become available due to the retirement of a long-serving Dispensing Optician, offering the opportunity to join a successful independent practice with an excellent local reputation. The practice is also preparing for a full refurbishment, making it an exciting time to become part of the team.

The practice would ideally like to recruit someone on a part-time basis, although applications are welcomed from Dispensing Opticians looking for 3, 4 or 5 days per week.

The Opportunity

  • Join a well-established independent Opticians with a loyal patient base
  • Become part of a practice that is due to undergo a full refurbishment
  • Work alongside an experienced team including Optometrists, Optical Assistants, an on-site laboratory and an Audiologist
  • Take over an established patient following from a long-serving Dispensing Optician
  • Dispense a carefully selected range of premium eyewear including LINDBERG, Face à Face, William Morris London, Ray-Ban, Silhouette, Wolf Eyewear, Stepper, Oakley, Radley and Ted Baker
  • Use Optix practice management software and Digital Mirror dispensing technology
  • Be involved in all aspects of dispensing and patient care
  • Work in a busy practice testing six days per week with some double clinics
  • Work closely with the practice's established audiology service
  • Occasionally provide support to nearby practices when required

Role Details

  • 3, 4 or 5 days per week available
  • Part-time applicants preferred
  • Set working days each week
  • Alternate Saturdays
  • Working hours are generally 9:00am to 5:30pm
  • The practice is currently trialling 8:00am to 4:30pm shifts on selected days
  • No Sundays or Bank Holidays
  • Salary £30,000 - £34,000 pro rata, depending on experience
  • Bonus scheme with guaranteed elements
  • 20 days holiday plus Bank Holidays (pro rata), plus your birthday off
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Training provided on OCT, dry eye services and Valeda AMD treatments
  • Long-term career progression opportunities
  • Planned start around November to allow a full handover with the retiring Dispensing Optician

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Dispensing Optician registered with the GOC
  • Excellent technical knowledge of ophthalmic lenses and frames
  • Confident interpreting prescriptions and recommending the most appropriate solutions for each patient
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills
  • A caring, empathetic and patient-focused approach
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Professional, organised and able to build lasting relationships with patients
  • Happy to support and train colleagues where appropriate
  • Flexible to occasionally support neighbouring practices when required

This independent Opticians in Kidderminster has been established in its current location for over 10 years and has built an excellent reputation for clinical care, premium eyewear and outstanding customer service. The practice offers an on-site laboratory, an established audiology service and a modern clinical environment, with a full refurbishment planned in the near future.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Dispensing Optician looking to join a supportive team, build long-term relationships with patients and develop their career within a progressive independent practice.
