Hassan-Hicks Opticians is a family-run practice based in Lymington. We are dedicated to providing high-quality, personalized eye care services to the local community. The practice focuses on building long-term relationships with patients through attentive service and professional expertise. We like to combine traditional values with up-to-date optical knowledge to offer a reliable and trusted service.
Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site Dispensing Optician role and is based at our only practice in Lymington, we work over two floors with stairs linking the two. The Dispensing Optician will:
- Interpret prescriptions
- Give patients advice on suitable frames and lenses
- Ensure accurate measurements for optimal fit and visual comfort
- Adjust and repair spectacles
- Provide guidance on lens options and coatings
- Order products
- Perform glazing, of which training is available if necessary
- Support the optometrists and colleagues where necessary

The DO will contribute to the friendly and professional atmosphere and we encourage an active role in ordering frame stock and value your input and expertise in these areas. You will also assist with bookings and follow-up care as needed. This position requires working on Saturdays as well as contributing to holiday cover.

Qualifications
- Candidates should be GOC and FBDO registered with an up-to-date DBS check.
- Strong knowledge of optics, including lens types, frame styles, and fitting techniques.
- Glazing knowledge and experience is ideal but not required as training will be provided.
- Experience in optometry support, including working with eye exam results and prescriptions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-focused approach.
- Attention to detail, accuracy in measurements, and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small team and adapt to varying patient needs.
- Previous experience in an optical practice.
- CLO candidates will be considered and there can be an option for CL work.
