Dispute Resolution Specialist

As growth continues at Talk to Ron, we are looking for an experienced Dispute Resolution Specialist to join our international boutique consultancy on a flexible, part-time basis. The role will initially require a few hours per week, with potential for additional hours as the business continues to expand.

The Role

The successful candidate will primarily support the Founder and Head of Small Debt Portfolio with dispute-related matters.

• You will work with disputed commercial balances, investigating disputes, reviewing account histories and supporting documentation, resolving complex account matters and pursuing outstanding balances where appropriate.
• You will communicate with clients, debtors and their representatives by telephone and email. The ability to remain professional, confident and appropriately assertive when dealing with challenging or contentious matters is essential.

What We're Looking For

Applicants must be able to demonstrate:

• A minimum of 3 years' relevant practical experience dealing with disputed commercial balances and contentious account matters within the jurisdiction of England and Wales.
• Proven experience handling disputed accounts and pursuing appropriate resolutions.
• The ability to investigate and respond to disputes, assess account histories and supporting documentation, and identify appropriate next steps.
• Experience dealing with difficult, challenging or evasive parties.
• The confidence and judgement to deal professionally with challenging, confrontational or provocative correspondence from dispute specialists, legal representatives and senior professionals.
• An understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules, ideally with experience issuing proceedings and/or dealing with Defence-related matters.
• Excellent written and verbal English, including the ability to draft clear, concise and professional correspondence.
• Strong telephone negotiation and communication skills.
• The ability to distinguish between the tone of correspondence and the substantive issues that need to be addressed.
• The confidence, tenacity and resilience to resolve disputed balances firmly and persistently while maintaining a professional approach.
• The ability to work independently, manage a caseload and prioritise matters effectively.
• Experience dealing with UK businesses (excluding Scotland), with a strong understanding of the English commercial environment and business practices.
