Distribution Safety Manager
Travis Perkins is now hiring for an energetic and influential Distribution Safety Manager to join our team at the Northampton Distribution Centre and play a critical role in driving a safe, compliant 24-hour operation.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will serve as the site's Health & Safety authority. Collaborating with operational leaders to embed a proactive safety culture, optimise warehousing efficiencies, manage regulatory compliance and to ensure our teams go home safe every day.
If you are a NEBOSH or IOSH qualified safety professional who views H&S as an enabler of business performance and excels at leading cross-functional teams, we’d love to hear from you!
Working Pattern & Location
Working Pattern: Full-time, standard working hours are 08:00 – 16:00 (Monday to Friday). Shift Engagement: While core hours are daytime, there is an expectation to spend time on-site during other shifts. There is no weekend work and no requirement to be on call.
The Opportunity
As Distribution Safety Manager, you will take complete ownership of site-wide health, safety, and operational compliance frameworks.
Leading a team consisting of one direct report and four indirect trainers, you will oversee annual Risk Assessments, Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs), incident root-cause investigations and statutory inspections.
You will chair the monthly site H&S Forum, manage our Yale Vision MHE fleet telemetry, deliver engaging training programs and use data analytics to drive continuous safety improvements across the supply chain.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
